AMVETS Post 190 Gives Out Awards To Members, Area Citizens

Jerry Lester of Spooner, pictured left with AmVet's Post 190 Commander John Leckel, was given the AmVets Community Person of the Year Award for his outstanding service to area citizens.  In his band, Larry and the Drifters, Lester has organized fund raisers for needy veterans and citizens and for the recently acquired replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  The award was given at the post's annual Christmas part held at the Prime Diner.

Gary Scalzo, of Spooner, pictured right with AmVet's Post 190 Commander John Leckel, was recently awarded the 2019 AmVet of the Year award at the groups annual Christmas party held recently at the Prime Diner in Trego.  Leckel said, Scalzo serves as the post treasurer, takes charge of the annual White Clover Sales, and organizes the parking programs at the County Fair and Fun Days events.

Bill Hoyt, of Spooner, pictured left with AmVet's Post 190 Commander John Leckel, was given the 2019 AmVet Community Veteran of the Year award for his lifetime of assisting area veterans and serving the Spooner area.  Leckel, said Hoyt has held every officer position in the post, is a Charter member, and serves on the Washburn County Veterans Commission.  The award was given at the post's annual Christmas party held recently at the Prime Diner in Trego.
