WASHBURN COUNTY -- A Rice Lake, WI man has been cited for Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense following a crash that occurred on County Highway A in Washburn County, resulting in injuries to both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle.
A single vehicle crash occurred on July 11, 2019 at approximately 10:30p. on County Highway A near Jellen Road just north of Spooner, WI.

The incident was handled by the Wisconsin State Patrol, with assistance from the Washburn County Sheriff Office.
The vehicle was southbound on Highway A, approaching curve to head eastbound on Highway A. The driver stated he was changing music on his phone and did not realize how close he was to the curve. The vehicle went into the ditch, crossed over a driveway, hit a dead branch laying in the ditch, and rolled over, according to information from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The driver of the vehicle, a silver 2014 Honda Civic, has been identified as Michael Harris, age 21, from Rice Lake. The passenger in the vehicle has been identified as McKaela Sybers, age 18, from Spooner. Seat belts were worn by both the driver and the passenger.
Both Harris and Sybers were injured and transported to the hospital for medical assistance – Harris by ambulance and Sybers by a friend. Their current medical condition is not known to DrydenWire.com at this time.
Three non-criminal citations were issued to Mr. Harris: Operating while under the influence, Inattentive driving, and Possess open intoxicants in MV-Driver.
A court date is scheduled for Harris in August.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
