Additional Stop Signs To Be Placed At Washburn County Intersection

News Release

The Washburn County Highway Department, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), will be taking steps to make signs at the intersection of WIS 70 and the south leg of County M east of Spooner more visible to motorists.

Currently, motorists traveling north on the south leg of County M are required to stop at the T-intersection with WIS 70, and there is a stop sign on the right side of the county highway there.

Because of a recent trend of motorists on County M failing to stop at WIS 70, the Highway Department will be:

  • Updating the existing stop sign.
  • Adding an additional stop sign on the left side of County M at the T-intersection.
  • Adding an additional stop ahead warning sign farther south on County M to alert northbound motorists that they are required to stop at the intersection with WIS 70.

The signs are expected to be in place by the end of next week.
