A Message From Shell Lake Police Chief David Wilson

News Release

Citizens of Shell Lake,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you during these uncertain times, as we all deal with the COVID-19 issue. I have seen how you have “self-policed” and stayed informed, of the wide variety of orders, directives, and suggestions from our local and state level officials. Voluntarily compliance with these suggested guidelines proves to be very helpful and beneficial to not only our department, but to the City as a whole, and to your fellow citizens, friends and neighbors. Thank you.

This is an ever changing and fluid dynamic facing us, and I certainly understand the concerns you may have.

My department is aware of some organizations that are carrying statements that basically state they are “essential services” Please do not provide these to the officers if you do have contact. The department will address this, as with any State Statute we deal with, case by case, and will use good judgment and reason.

Questions have arisen from the Governor’s most recent order and what that means for enforcement in Shell Lake. I would at this time simply ask that you continue to do what you have already been doing, self-police, voluntary compliance, and staying informed. Help your family, friends, and neighbors as you have always done. That’s what makes us great as a community.

Rest assured that the staff of the Shell Lake Police Department will continue to be available for your public safety needs and concerns.

This department receives daily updates, and information will be posted/shared here as it relates to public safety and applicable notifications.

The safety and security of the Shell Lake community as always is a top priority of the department.

Chief Wilson
