POLK COUNTY — The Wisconsin Department of Tourism released tourism’s impact on local economies and Polk County set another record in visitor spending at $95.4 million in 2019.
That was a 3.96% increase from 2018. The tourism industry provides 1,172 jobs in Polk County and generates $9.7 million in state and local taxes.
“We know tourism plays a critical role in our communities and continues to grow year after year,” said Colleen Foxwell, Executive Director of the Polk County Information Center. “Last years numbers are very encouraging, but we know now that 2020 will be a challenge, and we are preparing to welcome our visitors back to all the great things happening in Polk County.”
Polk County has so much offer. A National Scenic River, the National Scenic Ice Age Trail, two State Parks, three State Recreation Trails, plus County Parks, mountain bike, fat bike, xc-skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobile and ATV trails, and great community events in all seasons.

Statewide, traveler and business spending generated $22.2 billion in 2019, up 3.02%. The Department of Tourism works with international research firms Tourism Economics and Longwood International.
