5th Annual Barron County Cops & Robbers Donut Dash

Run to Benefit Shop With A Cop

5th Annual Barron County Cops & Robbers Donut Dash

BARRON COUNTY -- The 5th Annual Barron County Cops & Robbers Donut Dash is going to start at 8:30 am on July 20th at the Barron County Fairgrounds. For the 4th year in a row we will be honoring Law Enforcement Officers that died in the line of duty. This year we are going to honor the fallen officers in a very special way. All registered participants can run/walk in honor of a fallen officer by affixing a sticker to them self that contains the name and photo of a fallen officer. All of the fallen officer’s in the US since our last release on July 21st, 2018 will be represented. Please join us in honoring these brave heroes.

The run/walk will start just inside the entrance to the fairgrounds. The Cops & Robbers Donut Dash 5K is put on by the Sheriff's office and the proceeds go to the Barron County Law Enforcement Foundation which then uses those funds for the Shop With A Cop program. The 2018 holiday season saw our largest number of children provided with gift cards to shop with deputies and officers from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, State Patrol, Wisconsin DNR and the Barron, Chetek, Cumberland, Four Corners, Rice Lake, and Turtle Lake Police Departments. The children used the gift cards to shop for their families for the holiday. After shopping the kids and officers all have dinner together. This event is always a special day for everyone involved.

Details about the run…..The run takes place on Saturday of the Barron County Fair, at the fairgrounds at 8:30am on July 20. Every paid registration receives FREE Saturday admission to the fair as well as a guaranteed t-shirt if registered before July 8th. After July 8th, the extra t-shirts are 1st come 1st served for registrants. Also…there will be donuts. LOTS of donuts.

Not a runner? That’s ok!!! Participates are welcome to walk the route. This event is for fun and a good cause. The past few years we even had some participants dress in costumes! “Prison” themed seems to be popular.  Don’t forget to bring your strollers – the little ones will have fun too and kids under 7 are free.  Due to the potential for hot weather, bringing dogs is not encouraged.

You can register online by going to www.BarronSheriff.org or directly to the registration site here.  You can also register on site at the fair at the Sheriff’s Department booth starting on Wednesday July 17th. If you are interested in keeping up with what is going on with the race, go to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page or look for the Cops & Robbers Donut Dash 5K event on Facebook.
