51-Year-Old Fisherman Dies in Polk County

POLK COUNTY -- A 51-year-old fisherman, identified by authorities as Michael Christianson, was pronounced dead shortly after witnesses observed him in the water on Deer Lake and attempting life-saving measures, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

(Press Release) — On 10-13-18 at 11:47AM, the Polk Co Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident on Deer Lake, in the Town of St Croix Falls, who observed a fisherman in the water and an unoccupied boat drifting.  The witnesses were removing their dock from the lake and had previously observed this person fishing.   The witnesses launched their row boat and went out to rescue the victim.  The victim was brought to shore, and life saving measures were attempted.  First responders and Ambulance personnel continued to work on the victim.  Life Link air ambulance responded to the scene and transported the victim to regions hospital.  At 1:48pm the victim was pronounced dead.  

The victim was identified as 51yr old Michael Christianson from Cottage Grove MN.
