36 Kids, 45 Officers and Chaperones Take Part In 1st-Annual 'Shop With A Cop'

BURNETT COUNTY -- On Saturday, December 14th, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office along with our local police departments hosted our 1st Annual Shop with a Cop event. 36 children and approximately 45 police officers and adult chaperones traveled to Wal-Mart in Rice Lake, WI. The children were given the opportunity to spend $100 plus pick out winter clothing items as needed. We then traveled to Hardee’s for lunch before returning home.

We are very thankful for the outpour of donations and support that we have received from the citizens and businesses of Burnett County. Without your contributions, we would not be able to make this event possible. Thank you to Siren Bus Company for your donation of a bus and driver, the Wal-Mart staff for being so accommodating and thank you to Hardee’s for offering us a discounted lunch.

There were not only countless smiles on the children but on the adults as well.

The Shop with a Cop Program not only offers a shopping experience for youth, but it also builds strong relationships between today’s youth and law enforcement.

Thank you again, and we look forward to Shop with a Cop 2020!
