Madison, WI – During a distinguished ceremony held at the State Capitol, Representative Gae Magnafici (R-Dresser) proudly presented the 2023 “First Responder of the Year” award to two outstanding individuals from the 28th Assembly District: Dan and Nicki Gullickson.

Dan Gullickson, a long-serving member from Amery, WI, has showcased unwavering commitment as an EMS Personnel (EMT), Volunteer Firefighter, and First Responder. Over the years, his service with the Dresser/Osceola/Garfield fire department and as an EMT in the Amery ambulance service has been nothing short of exceptional. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dan's role as a dedicated family man and co-owner of a local business that supports local employment further underscores his significance to the community.

Meanwhile, Nicole (Nicki) Gullickson has been a beacon of service in the communities of Amery and Luck, WI. As the EMS Manager at Northwestern Municipal EMS and a Trainer/Faculty at Northwood Technical College, she has been instrumental in various initiatives, including the transformation of the Amery Municipal Ambulance to a Paramedic unit and the critical merger with the Northland Ambulance Service in Luck.

Rep. Magnafici remarked, "Dan and Nicki's unparalleled dedication, hard work, and service have made our district, and indeed Wisconsin, a safer and better place. Their stories resonate with the spirit of selflessness, and it is a privilege to honor such remarkable individuals."

The “First Responder of the Year” award, established in 2019, celebrates the valiant men and women in our emergency services. Nominees, representing a broad spectrum of emergency personnel, are shortlisted from each legislative district based on their exemplary community service, dedication, and selflessness.

In recognition of these heroes, the Assembly has passed a resolution, officially declaring October 17th as the First Responders Appreciation Day. As the event concluded, Representative Magnafici extended her deepest gratitude to all first responders across Wisconsin, emphasizing the state's eternal indebtedness to their service and sacrifice.
