POLK COUNTY -- Charges of sexual assault, use of force, have been filed against an Amery, WI man following an investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office into allegations of sexual assault.
On February 25, 2022, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received information alleging that Matthew Swank, had committed a forcible sexual assault of an adult.
Deputies were advised that Swank had forcibly sexually assaulted an adult victim more than once, causing injuries to the victim during at least one of the assaults.
According to the criminal complaint filed against Swank, medical exams of the victim confirmed that the victim had sustained injuries. The criminal complaint goes on to state that during one assault, Swank locked himself into a room with a victim and forcibly sexually assaulted the victim.

Swank is charged with three counts of Class C Felony Second Degree Sexual Assault, Use of Force, Domestic Abuse; and one count of Class H Felony False Imprisonment, Domestic Abuse.
Online circuit court records show that Swank appeared for a hearing in Polk County Circuit Court on February 28, 2022, and the Hon. James Krupa ordered a $10,000 cash bond for Swank. The bond was posted that same day.
Swank is scheduled to appear again in March 2022 regarding his charges.
